How does the parsing work?

stmtly uses a two-stage pipeline. First, your PDF is sent to Google Document AI for raw text extraction. Second, our proprietary three-layer reconciliation engine processes that output: Spatial Grid Mapping assigns every token an X-Y coordinate so columns are identified by position rather than text-stream order; a Combinatorial Math Engine groups transactions between known running balances and tests every possible debit/credit combination until it finds the only path that reaches the next printed balance; and Two-Point Validation cross-references the transaction ledger total against the Opening and Closing Balances printed in the statement summary. No sign-guessing. No hallucinations. Math-proven output.

How accurate is the extraction?

Extremely high. Because transaction signs are proved mathematically (not inferred by keywords or AI), the system cannot hallucinate a debit as a credit. The Two-Point Validation Audit then flags any output that doesn't balance to the penny with a valid: false status. Failed parses are automatically refunded as credits.

What is balance validation and the 'valid' flag?

After extraction, the engine anchors on the Opening Balance and Closing Balance printed in the statement summary. It verifies that the Opening Balance plus the net of all transactions equals the Closing Balance. If the numbers match to the penny, the output carries valid: true. If not — due to a corrupt PDF, poor scan, or unrecognized layout — it flags valid: false (a 'Math Drift' error), and you are notified before any data reaches your export. You are never charged for a Math Drift failure.

End-to-end processing runs in under 30 seconds for most statements. stmtly runs on Cloudflare Workers deployed at the network edge, so there are no server cold-starts, no queues, and no waiting. Processing happens within the same request.

What happens if a parse fails?

If parsing fails for any reason — a corrupt PDF, an unrecognized layout, or an AI error — the credits reserved for that parse are automatically refunded to your account. You will never be charged for a failed parse.

What is a credit?

One credit = one page of a bank statement. A 10-page statement uses 10 credits. Credits are reserved before parsing begins and refunded automatically if the parse fails.

Can I cancel my subscription anytime?

No, and that's intentional. We delete all statement data immediately after parsing—nothing gets stored on our servers. Your statement never sit on our infrastructure. We can't be breached for data we don't have.

No. Your PDF is processed entirely in memory by our proprietary reconciliation engine and deleted immediately after parsing completes. There are no databases, logs, or caches that retain your file. Zero data retention is a core design principle — not an afterthought.

Your PDF is sent to Google Document AI via a TLS-encrypted connection for text extraction — the same infrastructure used by enterprise financial firms. Our reconciliation engine then processes the extracted data inside an ephemeral Cloudflare Worker instance. No stmtly employees, contractors, or third parties ever see your file.

Is my data used to train AI models?

No. Google Document AI processes your statement under enterprise data agreements that include no retention or training rights over your content. Our reconciliation layer is a deterministic math system — not a machine learning model — so there is nothing to train.

stmtly runs on infrastructure hosted on SOC 2 Type II audited platforms. A SOC 2 attestation specific to stmtly is currently in progress. stmtly handles financial data, not health data, and HIPAA does not apply.

All traffic between your browser and stmtly is encrypted with TLS 1.3. Uploaded PDFs and any parsed outputs are encrypted at rest using AES-256. Processing runs inside ephemeral Cloudflare Worker instances that are destroyed after each request.
